When we recieved it I just cut it down to less than a quarter inch than my carpet size and placed it under. I was getting tired of having to move it back to its place multiple times a day, so I picked this up. No more moving the rug! It stays right where I want it to. It was very easy to "install". Just unfold it in the place you want your rug, and roll your rug out on top of it. That's it! It's also easy to clean under.We have carpeting, and while it works perfectly for us, I had one sent to my mother, who has an area rug on top of her carpet, and it doesn't work as well there. It definitely stops it from moving as much on carpet, but it doesn't work anywhere near as well as it does on wood floors. This is why it's getting four stars, instead of five. The description clearly states that it works on carpet, and while it kind of does, it's nowhere near as good as on floor.
